So you tried to download a Facebook video and something went wrong. Maybe FSaver said it could not find a video. Maybe the download started but the file was broken. Maybe nothing happened at all. These things happen, and most of the time the fix is straightforward.
Here are the most common problems and what to do about them.
This is the most common error. It usually means one of a few things.
FSaver can only download videos from public posts. If the video was shared on a private profile, in a private group, or with a "Friends only" audience, FSaver cannot access it. Facebook blocks outside tools from seeing private content, and we do not try to get around that.
How to check: Go to the original post on Facebook. If you can see it when you are logged in but the link does not work when you open it in a private browser window (where you are not logged in), the post is private.
Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this one. You would need to ask the person who posted it to either make it public or send you the video directly.
If the original post has been removed from Facebook, the video is gone. FSaver does not store videos. It fetches them from Facebook in real time, so if the post no longer exists, there is nothing to download.
This happens more often than you would think. The Facebook app has a bunch of different links floating around, and it is easy to copy a link to someone's profile instead of the specific post. Here is how to make sure you get the right one:
If the URL you pasted does not contain anything that looks like a post ID or video ID, it is probably the wrong link.
FSaver downloads videos directly from Facebook's servers. If the download is slow, it is almost always a network issue on your end.
A few things to try:
If downloads are consistently slow, try a different browser. Some browsers handle downloads better than others.
If the downloaded file will not open, a few things might have gone wrong.
The download might have been interrupted. This can happen if your internet connection dropped during the download, especially with larger HD files. Try downloading it again from the start.
Your media player might not support the format. Facebook videos are MP4 files, and almost everything plays MP4. But if you are having trouble, try opening the file in VLC, which is a free media player that handles pretty much every format.
On iPhones specifically, make sure you completed the download. Safari sometimes requires you to confirm downloads through a popup. If you did not tap the confirmation, the file might not have downloaded fully.
FSaver works with links to Facebook posts, videos, Reels, and Stories. But some URLs from Facebook do not follow the standard format. Here are some examples of links that work:
And some that might not work:
If you have a shortened URL, try opening it in your browser first to get the full Facebook URL, then paste that full URL into FSaver.
If FSaver found the video and is showing a preview but there is no download button, try refreshing the page and pasting the link again. This is rare but it can happen if something goes wrong during the page load.
Also check that JavaScript is enabled in your browser. FSaver needs it to work properly. If you are using a browser extension that blocks scripts, try temporarily disabling it.
If none of the above fixed your problem, here are a couple more things to try. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again. Use a different browser entirely. If you are on a phone, try the desktop version of FSaver on a computer or vice versa.
You can also check whether the issue is with a specific video or with FSaver in general. Try downloading a different public Facebook video. If that works, the problem is with the specific video you were trying to download (probably a privacy setting). If nothing works at all, there might be a temporary issue on our end.
