How to Download Facebook Reels

What are Facebook Reels?

Facebook Reels are short vertical videos, usually under 90 seconds. If you have used Instagram Reels or TikTok, the concept is the same. They show up in your news feed, in the Reels tab, and sometimes in groups. People use them for everything from comedy skits to cooking clips to product demos.

The thing about Reels is they are designed to be scrolled through quickly. You watch one, swipe up, watch another. But sometimes you find one you actually want to keep. Maybe it is a workout routine you want to follow along with, or a recipe you know you will forget about if you do not save it somewhere. Facebook lets you save Reels to a list, but that only works online. If you want the actual video file on your device, you need a Facebook video downloader.

How to download Facebook Reels

The process is basically the same as downloading any other Facebook video. Here is how to do it step by step.

Step 1: Copy the Reel link

Open the Reel you want to save. On the Facebook app, tap the three dots (usually in the bottom right or top right of the Reel) and look for "Copy link." Tap it.

If you are on a computer, open the Reel and copy the URL from your browser's address bar. The URL will look something like facebook.com/reel/1234567890.

Step 2: Paste it into FSaver

Head over to FSaver.net in your browser. Paste the link into the input field and hit Download. FSaver will process the link and show you the video with quality options.

Step 3: Download

Pick your preferred quality (HD or SD) and click download. The video saves to your device. On a phone, check your Downloads folder. On a computer, it goes to your default downloads location.

That is the whole process. Takes maybe 20 seconds once you get used to it.

Downloading Reels on your phone

If you are on Android, the copy-paste method works fine in any browser. But there is a quicker option. VDFR on Google Play lets you share a Reel directly from the Facebook app and download it without opening a browser at all. Open the Reel, tap Share, pick VDFR, and the download starts right away.

On iPhone, you can use FSaver in Safari, or grab FSaver on the App Store. The app lets you share Reels from Facebook directly into FSaver. Downloaded files go to your Files app, and you can move them to your camera roll from there.

Can you download any Reel?

You can download Reels from public accounts and public pages. If the Reel was posted to a private profile or a private group, FSaver will not be able to access it. This is a limitation of how Facebook handles privacy settings, and we think it is the right approach. We do not ask for login credentials and we do not try to bypass anyone's privacy.

Also worth noting: if the person who posted the Reel deletes it, the video is gone from Facebook and FSaver cannot retrieve it. So if you see something you want to keep, it is better to download it sooner rather than later.

Why do people download Reels?

A few common reasons come up. People save workout and recipe Reels so they can follow along without scrolling through their feed trying to find them again. Teachers save educational clips to use in presentations. Some folks just want to share a funny video in a group chat without sending a Facebook link that half the group will not bother clicking.

There is also the offline angle. If you are going somewhere with bad internet, like a long flight or a rural area, having the video file on your phone means you can watch it whenever.

Reels vs regular Facebook videos

From a download perspective, there is not much difference. FSaver handles both the same way. You paste the link, you get the video. The main difference is that Reels are always vertical (9:16 aspect ratio) and usually shorter. Regular Facebook videos can be any length and any aspect ratio.

Quality options are the same too. Most Reels are available in at least SD, and many have an HD option as well. The quality depends on what the original uploader recorded in.

What if the download does not work?

If FSaver is not finding the video, double-check that you copied the right link. Sometimes the Facebook app copies a link to the poster's profile instead of the actual Reel. Try tapping directly on the Reel to open it in full screen, then copy the link from there.

If it is still not working, the Reel might be from a private account. FSaver can only access public content. Check out our full download guide for more tips, or our post on saving different types of Facebook content if you are trying to download Stories or other formats.
